Staff Geologist - Environmental Remediation (Denver)
**Description** Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Staff Geologist to support environmental investigation and monitoring, due diligence, and remediation projects in our Environmental Services global practice in Englewood, CO. This position requires experience performing environmental site assessments, logging of soil borings, subsurface soil sampling, installation and sampling of groundwater monitoring wells, data validation and statistical analysis of soil and groundwater data, authoring reports and permit documents, providing remedial construction site oversight and materials management support, project task management, and other activities, as required. Experience with emerging contaminants of concern including PFAS and experience investigating coal combustion residuals (CCR) is strongly preferred. This individual will enhance our existing remediation and environmental engineering presence in the region working closely with clients across multiple markets, including electrical utilities, solid waste, mining, manufacturing, oil and gas, renewable energy, and others. The Staff Geologist will work within our region’s Environmental Engineering and Remediation Departments and collaborate broadly to support our Environmental Services global practice and will generally be responsible for the following: + Prepare environmental investigation work plans, reports, feasibility studies, etc. + Prepare Phase I environmental site assessments + Execute and guide environmental site assessments, including subsurface soil and low-flow groundwater sampling, monitoring well installation, soil characterization and logging, etc. + Perform project and task management duties on remediation projects. + Subcontractor contracting, scheduling, and management of field activities. + Work closely with project teams and field personnel to complete and review projects within scope, budget and schedule. + Other duties, as assigned. **Qualifications** + Bachelor’s degree in Geology or closely related field from an accredited program. + Minimum of 4 years of related professional experience completing environmental investigations, analyzing and summarizing investigation data, preparing environmental reports, etc. + Experience assisting with or conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Phase II environmental site investigations + Demonstrated aptitude performing environmental field monitoring activities, including collection of soil and groundwater samples, logging soil borings, installing and developing groundwater monitoring wells, data analysis, and authoring reports + Experience in the field supporting remedial actions, including emergency response, excavation oversight, in-situ treatments, soils and waste management, site restoration, etc. + Experience with and working knowledge of State and Federal Regulations + OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training with annual updates + Self-motivation and the ability to self-manage and multi-task (write reports, analyze data, perform design tasks, etc.) + Strong problem-solving abilities, interpersonal skills, and ability to work within a team framework + Previous consulting experience is a plus. Experience investigating coal combustion residuals (CCR) at regulated facilities is strongly preferred. + Ability to travel and work in the field, up to 30%, as required. **Compensation** $90,000.00-140,000.00 Yearly The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location.
