Northrop Grumman Space Systems is searching for an experienced Staff Engineer Systems Modeling & Simulation to join the Launch Vehicles business unit to support the GPI – Glide Phase Interceptor Program in Chandler, AZ. 

The M&S IPT lead oversees the modeling, simulation, and software implementation of algorithms designed for the interceptor to meet challenging performance requirements.

Essential Functions:

Team management (primarily Guidance, Navigation, Control, software and systems engineers), M&S build management, interceptor performance management, cost account management and customer interfaceResponsible for interceptor performance and flight assessment. This includes executing trajectory simulation tools, both in 3 and 6 degrees of freedom, and analyzing the results of those simulationsSupport the evaluation of the missile’s effectiveness against threat systemsAnalyze other missile performance metrics related to that analysis. Support system design, data analyses, interface verification, testing, and failure/anomaly resolutionSupport the testing and/or evaluation/validation of one or more components of a system or subsystem analytical model or actual system implementationPrepare materials for presentation during Design Reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), and Monthly Management ReviewsSupport trade studies, system sensitivity studies, design optimization studies, system performance assessments, system design assessments, Operations Analysis work such as mission analysis and timelines and concept of operations developmentExecute multi-disciplinary analyses and trade studies to support system design and verification activities

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in STEM with 10 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with 8 years of related engineering experienceActive U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of applicationExperience with mission level simulation and analysisExperience with missile modeling and trajectory simulationExperience with 6DOF trajectory simulation toolsStrong programming skillsExcellent technical writing skillsAbility to travel is required (<10%)Systems Engineering experienceStrong oral and written communication skill

Preferred Qualifications:

Active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance at time of application

Primary Level Salary Range: $147,700.00 - $221,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
