Responsibilities:
Lead cross functional technical teams with Steady-State Performance, Transient Performance, Operability, Systems, Aerothermal Disciplines, Controls, and hardware design engineers to accurately model military turbofan engines.Represent performance team in customer-facing discussions to shape system-level requirements.Provide technical leadership in steady-state and transient engine cycle studies.Serve as a technical mentor or role model to less-experienced members of the performance team.Effectively scope and delegate tasks to the performance team to ensure proper prioritization and execution of projects.Develop action plans needed to resolve system-level issues.Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated by the team consistent with engineering policies and procedures.Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues.Own communication of engine performance status to both internal and external customers.Status Earned Value Management (EVM) and support CAM activities.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering (or a similar discipline focused on thermodynamics or aerothermal sciences) from an accredited college or university.Minimum of 5 years' experience in a performance engineering role.Recognized as approachable, collaborative, and inclusive.Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship.Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Minimum of 10 years of experience in an engineering position.Active US Government Security Clearance (Secret or above).Experience in aviation engine qualification and certification.Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems (i.e. NPSS, Python for data analytics, etc.).Recognized technical expert in Performance Engineering who takes ownership and delivers results.Strong oral and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering related to turbomachinery cycle design, testing, or systems engineering.Talented, highly motivated with good engineering judgment.Effective in contributing in a structured, cross functional teamwork environment.This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
