Staff Engineer, Power Electronics

The Role:

Analysis and design trade-off studies of electrical architecture and power converter topologies Design and build hardware of power electronics converters for use in automotive applications. Start to finish ownership of hardware – from specification to design, component selection, prototype, testing, validation, and high-volume manufacturing. Collaborate with mechanical, PCB layout, firmware engineers to design and validate power converters. Work with manufacturing team to ensure efficient and high-yield production of the power converter.


Qualifications:

Strong understanding of power electronics topologies (AC/DC, DC/DC & DC/AC) Hands-on hardware experience in power converter (AC/DC, DC/DC & DC/AC) design Good understanding of power conversion topologies and control strategies, switching device characteristics and losses, gate driving circuit design, magnetics, capacitors etc. Good experience with design of analog/digital circuits Experience in PCB layout. Proficiency with lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, Network analyzers, Signal Generators etc.) Experience with Design for Manufacturing and DFMEA


Advantageous:

Familiar with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools Familiar with electromagnetic compatibility Familiar with environmental, reliability, and safety requirements for automotive applications


Education Requirements:

BS/MS degree in Electrical Engineering. PhD preferred.
