**Purpose:** The Staff Engineer Optical Metrology is accountable for methodologies to test new and existing product characteristics and performance. Methodology development includes construction, validation, documentation and support of all optical and dimensional test methods. This position works with product development teams to transfer design requirements into test methods. They champion optical design and engineering layouts for new system ideas.
**You will:**
+ Develop optical and dimensional test methods.
+ Provide optical consulting to Platform teams.
+ Perform optical and geometric analysis of existing and competitor products.
+ Work toward the identification, assessment and development of new scientific concepts and technologies.
+ Work independently to perform research of a complex nature where analysis of situations or data requires in depth evaluation of various identifiable factors in one or more areas.
+ Ensure quality conduct of projects, including design, data summary and interpretation, report and manuscript preparation and review and adherence to applicable regulations.
+ Make decisions regarding analyzing and interpreting data, drawing conclusions, and arriving at timely technical decisions.
+ Modify methodology to improve the quality, accuracy, and usefulness of data.
+ Record accurately, information obtained in projects.
+ Ensure that records and raw data are properly retained
+ Practice continuous system improvements in the development of new or refined optical metrology methods.
+ Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant technical field (Optics, Physics, Engineering preferred). Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
+ 8 years of relevant experience in R&D with BS Degree; 5 years of relevant experience in R&D with MS Degree; 2 years of relevant experience in R&D with PhD.
+ Strong business acumen and knowledge of ophthalmic competitive landscape.
+ Experience with the application of principles, concepts, and practices of precision optical and dimensional metrology solutions.
+ Demonstrated record of completing projects.
+ Ability to collaborate with internal and external resources to meet project objectives.
+ Familiarity with statistical analysis and design of experiments.
+ Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

**The anticipated base pay range for this position is :**
$105,000-$-165,000
