Description We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team in New York, New York. This is a long-term contract opportunity where you will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with corporate tax regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting practices and a keen attention to detail. Responsibilities: • Perform detailed bank reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting. • Conduct financial analyses to support business decisions and improve operational efficiency. • Manage month-end closing processes, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations. • Maintain and update the general ledger with accurate and timely postings. • Prepare corporate tax returns and ensure compliance with applicable tax laws. • Handle sales tax filings and related documentation. • Utilize software tools such as Blackbaud Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge to manage financial data effectively. • Collaborate with internal teams to address accounting discrepancies and streamline workflows. • Support audits by providing necessary documentation and resolving inquiries. Requirements • Proven experience in bank reconciliations, financial analysis, and month-end closing activities. • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas and data manipulation. • Familiarity with accounting software such as Blackbaud Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge. • Strong knowledge of corporate tax regulations and tax return preparation. • Experience with sales tax filings and compliance requirements. • Ability to prepare and post journal entries with precision. • Solid understanding of general ledger maintenance and reporting. • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
