Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in New York, New York. This is a long-term contract position within the non-profit sector, offering the opportunity to work on diverse accounting tasks in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical skills and a proactive approach to managing financial operations. Responsibilities: • Manage data across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and consistency in financial records. • Prepare and review journal entries, general ledger accounts, and financial reports. • Handle accounts payable and receivable processes, including reconciliations and payment tracking. • Assist in fulfilling audit requests, such as uploading documents, providing confirmations, and liaising with external auditors. • Oversee banking and treasury functions, including processing wires and managing account reconciliations. • Utilize QuickBooks for financial transactions and reporting. • Support corporate and sales tax preparation, including reviewing and filing corporate tax returns. • Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory financial standards. • Analyze and improve financial processes to enhance operational efficiency. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate, lending, or financial services. • Proficiency in data management and advanced Excel functionalities. • Hands-on experience with general ledger, reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting. • Familiarity with QuickBooks and banking operations, including treasury functions. • Strong understanding of corporate and sales tax, as well as corporate tax return preparation. • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
