Staff Accountant
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Houston, Texas. This role is key to ensuring accurate financial documentation, efficient contract management, and seamless accounts receivable and payable processes. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction accounting and be adept at handling multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining compliance with financial protocols. Responsibilities: • Maintain and organize critical documentation such as certificates of insurance, lien waivers, and project close-outs. • Oversee the contract change order process and update billing systems to reflect modifications. • Track accounts receivable collections, follow up on overdue accounts, and provide regular aging reports. • Ensure timely processing of billings and collections, adhering to established deadlines. • Manage subcontractor portals, granting and revoking access to project-related information as necessary. • Process vendor invoices related to projects, ensuring they match purchase orders and receipts. • Create and maintain billing schedules of values, obtaining customer approval during contract execution. • Review and verify billing accuracy before submitting for final approval. • Compute fees or charges based on work orders, construction liens, or contracts. • Prepare budgets and organizational documents in alignment with project mobilization timelines. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. • 2-4 years of experience in construction accounting, including accounts receivable and payable. • Proficiency in percent completion revenue recognition methods and job costing. • Familiarity with Dynamics 365 – Business Central and integrated accounting systems. • Hands-on experience with platforms such as GCPay, Procore, and Textura. • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills. • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. • Capability to manage deadlines effectively while handling multiple projects.
