Description We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team in San Francisco, California. This Contract-to-permanent position offers the opportunity to perform a wide range of accounting tasks while collaborating with various departments to support organizational goals. Responsibilities: • Perform accrual accounting tasks and ensure accuracy in financial records. • Record and reconcile payroll and benefits transactions in a timely manner. • Audit payroll and benefit entries to maintain consistency with the general ledger. • Manage cash and check deposits efficiently. • Prepare bank wires and transfers in compliance with organizational procedures. • Generate general ledger entries for approval by analyzing account details and reconciling discrepancies. • Provide detailed reports and financial analyses to the Controller. • Assist in annual audits, including preparing schedules and supporting payroll and benefit audits. • Conduct monthly balance sheet account reconciliations. • Regularly review and update accounting policies and procedures to align with best practices. Requirements • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Exceptional organizational abilities with keen attention to detail. • In-depth knowledge of financial and accrual accounting principles. • Proficiency in general ledger software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. • A minimum of three years of experience in general or payroll accounting. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments. • Experience with Ellucian Colleague or similar enterprise systems is highly desirable.
