Staff Accountant
Description Jana Chapman with Robert Half is looking for a highly experienced Staff Accountant to join our team in Portland, Oregon. In this role, you will handle complex accounting tasks, support operational leaders with financial insights, and drive improvements in processes and systems. This position offers an opportunity to contribute strategically while applying your expertise in financial reporting and analysis. Responsibilities: • Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and accuracy in reporting. • Assist leaders in developing and monitoring annual budgets, providing detailed financial recommendations. • Execute month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and expense analysis. • Provide support for internal and external audits, offering insights and actionable recommendations to improve operational procedures. • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and support automation initiatives. • Act as a financial advisor to business leaders, using data-driven insights to guide strategic decision-making. • Maintain and manage general ledger accounts, ensuring proper mapping and alignment with organizational needs. • Collaborate on system upgrades and enhancements to streamline accounting operations and reporting. • Monitor and analyze project accounting activities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Job Order: 03600-0013281311 Requirements • Minimum of 10 years of experience in finance, accounting, or business analytics. • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. • Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and compliance standards. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills for financial modeling and reporting. • Strong ability to work independently, analyze complex financial data, and develop strategic recommendations. • Experience with general ledger accounting, including journal entries and reconciliation processes. • Familiarity with accounting systems, ideally within architecture, engineering, or construction industry environments. • Proven track record of assisting with external audits and driving process optimization initiatives.
