Description Job Title: Staff or Senior Accountant Location: Hybrid (Bay Area preferred) or Remote Industry: Banking / Financial Services Employment Type: Full-time | Contract or Direct Hire Experience Level: 5+ Years Our client, a well-established player in the banking and financial services industry, is seeking a Staff or Senior Accountant with a strong accounting foundation and a keen eye for process improvement. This role involves hands-on accounting clean-up, financial reporting, and advanced data analysis using Excel and other financial systems. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a detail-driven environment and enjoys getting books in order. Key Responsibilities + Lead and support accounting clean-up efforts including reconciliations, journal entries, and GL reviews + Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and reports + Perform complex Excel-based financial modeling, variance analysis, and reporting + Assist with month-end and year-end close processes + Leverage tools such as Kinetif, Rapport Builder, and SQL for reporting and data extraction (preferred but not required) + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve accounting workflows and internal controls + Support internal/external audits and ad hoc projects as needed Requirements Qualifications + 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a banking or financial services environment + Strong understanding of GAAP, general ledger accounting, and reconciliations + Advanced Excel skills required (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, modeling, etc.) + Experience with Kinetif, Rapport Builder, and SQL a strong plus + Proven success with accounting system clean-up and process improvements + Self-starter with strong analytical skills and attention to detail + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Work Environment + Hybrid preferred (Bay Area), remote considered for the right candidate + Collaborative team with a focus on integrity and results + Opportunity to take ownership of critical accounting functions and make a measurable impact Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
