Description
Our client is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team in the Somerset, NJ area. This is a long-term contract position within the Real Estate Property/Facilities Management industry, offering an excellent opportunity to expand your accounting expertise. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing journal entries, preparing financial reports, and supporting various aspects of accounting and financial analysis.
Responsibilities:
• Record journal entries and oversee the completion of quarterly closing activities.
• Prepare documentation for annual audits and assist in creating yearly budgets.
• Review financial records, including journal entry summaries and rent rolls, to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Analyze Net Receivable Reports and balances to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Approve invoices and verify deposits for maintenance fees to maintain accurate accounts payable records.
• Conduct bank reconciliations for reserve accounts and ensure proper documentation for wire approvals.
• Update and maintain schedules for accruals related to utilities, depreciation, and insurance expenses.
• Perform financial analysis by reviewing utility rates and comparing financial results with budgets.
• Collaborate with auditors to review draft reports, resolve discrepancies, and provide requested documentation.
• Assist in preparing and analyzing annual operational budgets, ensuring accurate projections and addressing variances.
Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred but not required.
• Proven organizational and analytical abilities with strong attention to detail.
• Experience in managing deadlines and handling multiple tasks effectively.
• Familiarity with property management accounting practices is a plus.
• Proficiency in preparing journal entries and working with general ledger systems.
• Knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, and tax return processes.
• Strong skills in financial analysis and variance reporting.
• Training will be provided to ensure success in the role.
