Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a Contract-to-Permanent basis in Annapolis, Maryland. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in managing accounts payable, reconciling financial data, and ensuring the accuracy of general ledger accounts. This position is ideal for a candidate with a strong foundation in accounting principles and a desire to grow within a collaborative environment. Responsibilities: • Process accurate and timely entries into the accounting software system. • Maintain and update assigned general ledger and sub-ledger accounts, ensuring all financial data is accurate and current. • Review and verify expense reports and calculations as part of the accounts payable process. • Reconcile general ledger accounts and analyze financial activity and statements. • Manage the accurate input and processing of Accounts Payable transactions. • Prepare detailed schedules and support management during the annual audit process. • Act as the technical expert for invoice and expense systems, providing guidance to team members as needed. • Offer assistance and advice to team members and management in your areas of expertise. • Contribute to additional accounting projects or tasks as directed. Requirements • Associate’s degree in Accounting and relevant experience in an accounting role. • At least one year of experience in not-for-profit accounting. • Proficiency in accounting principles and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel. • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively. • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities. • Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge is preferred. • Familiarity with corporate tax processes, including sales tax and tax return preparation, is a plus.
