Staff Accountant
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Hoboken, New Jersey. This role involves performing a variety of accounting tasks, including general ledger management, accounts payable processing, fixed asset tracking, payroll accounting, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have expertise in corporate tax, sales tax, and GAAP accounting, along with strong analytical skills to support accurate and efficient financial operations. Responsibilities: • Prepare and review general ledger account reconciliations, accruals, and adjusting journal entries to ensure timely month-end and quarter-end closings. • Maintain compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting standards to ensure accuracy and consistency. • Oversee the accounts payable process, ensuring payments are posted promptly and coded correctly to the general ledger. • Manage fixed asset accounting, including tracking, depreciation calculations, and reporting. • Assist with ensuring payroll accounting is accurate and aligns with organizational policies. • Support external auditors during annual audits by providing necessary documentation and analysis. • Contribute to the development and implementation of process improvements to enhance department efficiency. • Collaborate on cross-functional business projects, providing financial insights and analysis. • Execute special projects and in-depth financial analyses as assigned. Requirements • Proven experience in corporate tax, including sales tax and corporate tax returns. • Proficiency in preparing journal entries and managing general ledger accounting. • Solid understanding of GAAP accounting principles and practices. • Advanced skills in Excel for data analysis and reporting. • Demonstrated ability to reconcile accounts and manage month-end closings. • Familiarity with fixed asset accounting and depreciation methodologies. • Strong organizational and analytical skills to handle multiple tasks effectively. • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
