Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to manage financial records and ensure accurate reporting in compliance with established policies and accounting standards. This position offers the opportunity to handle a variety of accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, and month-end closings. Based in Richmond, Virginia, this role plays a critical part in supporting the financial operations of the organization.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain and update general ledger accounts by accurately posting entries and performing account reconciliations.
• Process accounts payable transactions, including validating invoices and preparing payment batches.
• Manage accounts receivable activities, such as auditing transactions, collecting payments, and resolving discrepancies.
• Conduct credit reviews and follow up on customer accounts to ensure timely collections and adjustments.
• Assist with the preparation and processing of weekly payroll for hourly employees.
• Support month-end closing procedures by compiling financial data and preparing reports.
• Generate daily financial reports and communicate any discrepancies or irregularities to the Plant Controller.
• Organize and maintain accounting and payroll records in accordance with company policies.
• Provide administrative support, including file management, document preparation, and correspondence.
• Collaborate with corporate teams to fulfill cyclical filings and respond to requests as directed by the Plant Controller. Requirements • Proficiency in corporate tax return preparation and general accounting principles.
• Experience with journal entries and general ledger maintenance.
• Knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Familiarity with full-cycle payroll processing.
• Expertise in month-end closing procedures and financial reporting.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information responsibly.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and seek guidance when needed.
