Description We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team in Birmingham, Michigan. In this role, you will take ownership of key financial processes, including maintaining the general ledger, managing month-end closings, and preparing detailed financial reports. This position offers a dynamic work environment where your expertise in accounting systems and analytical skills will play a vital role in supporting multiple projects. Responsibilities: • Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance across multiple projects. • Lead month-end closing activities, including preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts within strict deadlines. • Monitor and analyze project-related revenue, expenses, and budgets to provide actionable financial insights. • Utilize JD Edwards software to streamline financial data management and reporting processes. • Develop advanced Excel spreadsheets, including complex formulas and pivot tables, to support financial analysis. • Ensure adherence to company policies and industry regulations while identifying opportunities to improve financial practices. • Collaborate with operational teams to deliver financial updates and guidance on project performance. • Prepare accurate financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders. • Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. • At least 3 years of experience in general ledger accounting. • Proficiency in JD Edwards software is highly preferred. • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas and pivot tables. • Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail. • Capability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Familiarity with accounting practices for project-based industries is advantageous. • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
