Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our accounting team on-site in the medical industry. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and supporting the day-to-day financial operations of our organization. This position requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of accounting best practices, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
General Accounting Duties:
+ Process and record financial transactions, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and adjustments to the general ledger.
+ Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring financial accuracy and meeting reporting deadlines.
+ Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoicing, payment applications, and collections follow-up.
Industry-Specific Financial Tasks:
+ Track, monitor, and reconcile transactions related to patient billing, insurance payments, and refunds.
+ Ensure compliance with healthcare financial regulations, including HIPAA, and accounting standards such as GAAP.
+ Manage financial transactions related to grants, government funding, and reimbursements for medical services.
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
+ Generate financial reports, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, for management review and decision-making.
+ Assist with external and internal audits, providing documentation and explanations as needed.
+ Ensure financial compliance with state and federal healthcare regulations and company policies.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
+ Assist in the development and tracking of budgets to support departmental financial goals.
+ Monitor budget variances and recommend corrective actions to financial leadership.
+ Collaborate with management to provide financial insights that inform strategic decision-making.
Collaboration and Improvement Initiatives:
+ Work closely with revenue cycle management teams to address discrepancies and improve financial workflows.
+ Partner with operations, medical staff, and billing teams to optimize financial systems and reporting processes.
+ Identify opportunities for process improvement and support the implementation of new accounting tools or systems.
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required. CPA or CMA certification strongly preferred.
+ Experience:
+ 2–4 years of accounting experience, preferably in the medical or healthcare industry.
+ Familiarity with revenue cycle management, medical billing practices, and insurance payment processes is highly desirable.
+ Technical Skills:
+ Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or Meditech) and ERP systems.
+ Strong Excel skills, including the ability to create pivot tables and perform data analysis.
+ Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and healthcare-specific financial regulations.
