Staff Accountant
Description Position Overview: We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Staff Accountant to join our team on-site at a fast-growing organization in the technology industry. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate reports, and supporting compliance initiatives. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of an innovative technology company while working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: General Accounting: + Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of assets, liabilities, revenue, and expenses. + Prepare and record journal entries related to revenue recognition, payroll, inventory, and operational expenses. + Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. Revenue and Expense Management: + Assist with tracking and recording revenue streams, including subscription services, software licenses, and sales. + Monitor operational expenses and ensure proper allocation across departments in compliance with company policies. + Analyze financial results and provide recommendations for process improvements. Financial Reporting and Compliance: + Prepare detailed financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, for management review. + Support compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), federal and state regulations, and internal company policies. + Assist with audit preparation and liaise with auditors to provide necessary documentation. Specialized Accounting in Technology: + Track and reconcile deferred revenue and subscription-based income streams. + Support cost allocation for research and development (R& D) expenses. + Collaborate with product and project teams to manage financial aspects of technology initiatives. Budgeting and Forecasting: + Work with the finance team on annual budgeting and forecasting processes, supporting long-term financial planning. + Monitor budget variances and provide insights to improve financial decision-making. Collaboration and Process Improvement: + Partner with cross-functional teams, including operations, product development, and sales, to ensure alignment on financial objectives. + Identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes by leveraging technology and automation tools. Requirements Qualifications: + Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required; CPA or CMA certification strongly preferred. + Experience: + Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting; experience in the technology industry is highly desirable. + Familiarity with accounting for recurring revenue (e.g., SaaS, subscription models) is a plus. + Technical Skills: + Proficiency in ERP systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar platforms. + Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions like pivot tables and data analysis. + Familiarity with GAAP regulations and revenue recognition standards (e.g., ASC 606). + Attributes: + Detail-oriented with a strong sense of accuracy and accountability. + Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data. + Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team environment.
