Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Nashville, Tennessee. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing key financial operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to both day-to-day accounting tasks and strategic financial initiatives.
Responsibilities:
• Perform monthly reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, and vendor statements, ensuring financial records are accurate and discrepancies are resolved promptly.
• Manage accounts payable processes, including vendor data maintenance, invoice processing, and timely payments, while ensuring compliance with tax documentation requirements.
• Oversee accounts receivable functions such as generating invoices, tracking payments, and preparing aging reports to ensure timely collections.
• Process payroll efficiently, including handling employee tax information, administering payroll taxes, and preparing quarterly and annual payroll reports.
• Prepare and review financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements on a regular basis to ensure accurate reporting.
• Collaborate with external accountants to file income and franchise tax reports, as well as annual business tax filings.
• Monitor and update job costs related to accounts payable and payroll, producing detailed cost summaries and tracking project budgets.
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and provide insights for revenue analysis reports to support business growth.
• Manage audits for general liability and workers’ compensation, ensuring all necessary financial details are provided.
• Support year-end audits by reconciling statements and maintaining organized documentation. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
• At least 5 years of accounting experience with a solid grasp of accounting principles.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop and familiarity with journal entries and general ledger management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address financial discrepancies and improve processes.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teams and stakeholders across the organization.
• Experience with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes.
• Knowledge of payroll processing and tax reporting procedures.
