Description We are looking for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team in Sacramento, California. In this Contract-to-Permanent position, you will play a key role in maintaining the financial health of a respected non-profit organization. The ideal candidate will have expertise in accounting practices and a strong attention to detail. Responsibilities: • Prepare and post accurate journal entries to ensure proper financial reporting. • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure consistency and accuracy. • Conduct thorough bank account reconciliations on a regular basis. • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes to meet deadlines. • Analyze and resolve discrepancies in financial records. • Collaborate with other departments to gather and verify accounting data. • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and accounting standards. • Generate financial reports and statements as required. • Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations. • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes for greater efficiency. Requirements • Proven experience working with journal entries and general ledger accounting. • Strong understanding of bank account reconciliation processes. • Proficiency in accounting software and tools. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively. • Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders. • Knowledge of accounting principles and regulations. • Experience in month-end and year-end closing procedures.
