Staff Accountant
Description Charlie Gilmur with Robert Half looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Portland, Oregon. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis, along with a commitment to delivering high-quality work. Responsibilities: • Prepare and analyze journal entries for key financial areas, such as operational costs, payroll accruals, depreciation of fixed assets, and amortization of prepaid expenses. • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate income statement variances related to assigned financial areas. • Manage payment processes, including wire transfers, intercompany payments, and manual check runs, while maintaining accurate logs and schedules. • Support corporate invoice processing and ensure timely and accurate documentation. • Compile and reconcile monthly financial reporting forms for submission to the parent company. • Assist in organizing and preparing materials for both internal control and external financial audits. • Contribute to the preparation of tax and regulatory filings, including vendor 1099 forms. • Build and maintain expertise in accounting practices that impact the organization, ensuring compliance and accuracy. • Provide administrative support for accounting-related memos and applications, including collaboration with Japanese expatriates. • Take on special projects and ad hoc tasks as directed by the Accounting Team or Senior Leadership. Job Order: 03600-0013269418 Requirements • Proven experience in accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes. • Proficiency in data entry and invoice processing with attention to detail. • Strong knowledge of journal entries and financial reconciliations. • Familiarity with month-end close procedures and reporting. • Ability to manage multiple payment types, including wire transfers and manual checks. • Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines. • Experience with tax filings, such as vendor 1099 forms, is preferred. • Effective communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
