Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This position is ideal for an experienced accounting specialist with expertise in the financial services industry and a strong background in general ledger accounting. The role requires proficiency in journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end closing processes. Responsibilities: • Prepare and review journal entries to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. • Perform detailed account reconciliations, including bank account reconciliations, to maintain financial accuracy. • Manage month-end close processes, ensuring timely and precise reporting. • Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring accurate documentation of all transactions. • Assist in the preparation of corporate tax returns and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. • Monitor and adhere to banking regulations to maintain industry compliance. • Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and propose corrective actions. • Collaborate with internal teams to support financial reporting and audits. • Develop and implement best practices for improving accounting process Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience with a focus on general ledger accounting. • Proficiency in preparing journal entries and handling month-end close processes. • Demonstrated expertise in account reconciliations, including bank account reconciliations. • Experience in the banking industry • Knowledge of banking regulations and financial industry practices. • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies. • Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines. • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
