Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In this role, you will manage key accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial records while supporting reporting processes and audits. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic banking environment and collaborate across departments to enhance financial operations. Responsibilities: • Review and process invoices to ensure accuracy and prepare timely payments. • Post transactions to the general ledger and reconcile sub-records on a monthly basis. • Maintain records for accounts payable, fixed assets, accruals, and prepaid accounts. • Manage investment sub-records to ensure alignment with the general ledger, investment advisor, and safekeeping records. • Research and resolve discrepancies in critical accounts such as loans and deposits. • Support the preparation of financial reports, including Forms 1099 and Board reports. • Collaborate with various departments to address accounting matters and facilitate month-end closings. • Assist with audits and special projects to improve organizational financial operations. • Perform journal entries and ensure proper documentation for monthly financial reporting. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred. • Minimum of 1 year of experience in financial reporting or as a Staff Accountant. • Familiarity with banking accounting practices is highly desirable. • Proficient in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and invoice processing. • Experience with QuickBooks and general ledger management. • Strong analytical and organizational skills. • Ability to work collaboratively with teams and solve accounting-related issues. • Knowledge of financial reporting standards and monthly reporting processes.
