Description We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team in Midland, Texas. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in corporate tax, sales tax, and general accounting practices. The ideal candidate will be someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and demonstrates expertise in managing financial records and compliance. Responsibilities: • Prepare and file corporate tax returns accurately and in compliance with regulations. • Handle sales tax reporting and ensure timely submissions. • Post and reconcile journal entries to maintain accurate financial records. • Manage and oversee the general ledger to ensure proper accounting procedures are followed. • Conduct thorough reviews of financial statements and reports to identify discrepancies. • Collaborate with internal teams to support audits and other financial assessments. • Analyze and interpret financial data to assist with strategic decision-making. • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations. • Monitor and update accounting policies in alignment with industry standards. • Provide guidance and support for financial system transitions, if applicable. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a focus on corporate tax and general ledger management. • Proficiency in preparing and filing corporate and sales tax returns. • Strong knowledge of journal entries and financial reconciliation. • Familiarity with accounting software and systems, with the ability to adapt to new tools. • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. • Strong communication skills for effective reporting and coordination. • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
