Staff Accountant
Description We are looking for a meticulous Staff Accountant to join our team in Los Angeles, California. This role involves managing financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to the overall fiscal health of our non-profit organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a commitment to accuracy, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various departments. Responsibilities: • Prepare and analyze balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports to ensure accurate representation of financial data. • Oversee and monitor accounting processes across multiple funds, properties, and programs to ensure compliance with fiscal standards. • Conduct account reconciliations, including monthly bank reconciliations, and resolve discrepancies promptly. • Assist with audits by preparing necessary documentation, addressing audit findings, and ensuring compliance with audit requirements. • Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts, ensuring accuracy in financial data and reporting. • Collaborate with department leaders and external agencies to address financial inquiries and improve communication. • Identify inefficiencies in accounting processes and recommend improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costs. • Complete special assignments and internal audits as directed by the Controller. • Stay updated on industry trends by attending seminars and training sessions to maintain current knowledge. • Ensure work areas and equipment are clean, organized, and secure, promoting a safe and efficient workplace. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. • Minimum of four years of accounting experience, including at least two years focused on budgets and financial statements. • Proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, such as Acumatica, or similar accounting software. • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and complex formulas. • Strong understanding of general ledger management, journal entries, and month-end close processes. • Familiarity with fund accounting and non-profit financial practices. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. • Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and solve problems using logical reasoning.
