Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Syosset, New York. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing various accounting tasks, including financial statement analysis, tax return preparation, and compliance filings, while ensuring accuracy and efficiency. This role requires a strong ability to collaborate with team members and communicate updates to senior management. Responsibilities: • Analyze and review financial statements and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance. • Prepare and finalize annual and semi-annual financial statements for review and compilation. • Oversee year-end closings and handle the preparation of personal, corporate, and partnership income tax returns. • Review workpapers and file quarterly and annual payroll tax returns, including forms such as 941 and W-2. • Manage the preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax returns, including forms like ST-809, ST-810, and ST-100. • Review documentation and workpapers for audits related to worker’s compensation, general liability insurance, and union requirements. • Supervise and support a team of four members, addressing challenges and ensuring smooth workflow. • Provide regular updates to senior management regarding the progress of key accounting assignments. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. • Minimum of 3–4 years of experience in public accounting. • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel. • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills. • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
