Description
Our client in the healthcare industry, located in Hartford, CT, is seeking a dedicated Staff Accountant to join their team. This role is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional to expand their expertise in a dynamic and rewarding industry.
Responsibilities:
+ Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, including the preparation and posting of journal entries.
+ Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure financial accuracy and completeness.
+ Prepare and review bank reconciliations to maintain proper financial records.
+ Oversee accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) functions, ensuring both timeliness and accuracy.
+ Assist in the preparation of accruals and other necessary adjustments during the accounting cycle.
+ Conduct periodic account reconciliations to validate that financial data is supported by proper documentation.
+ Provide audit support by gathering and organizing relevant documentation when required.
+ Collaborate with other team members and departments to enhance financial processes and improve reporting accuracy.
+ Ensure compliance with established accounting standards and internal controls at all times.
Requirements • Proven experience with general ledger management and journal entry preparation.
• Proficiency in performing bank reconciliations and month-end close procedures.
• Strong understanding of accrual accounting and financial reporting.
• Familiarity with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work with large data sets.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
