Description We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Goshen, New York. This role requires working fully on-site and offers a great opportunity to contribute to a non-profit organization. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in accounting principles and practices, with the ability to manage financial data and collaborate effectively with program staff. Responsibilities: • Maintain and update labor allocation models to ensure accurate financial tracking. • Collaborate with program staff to classify and record financial transactions, ensuring all costs are properly allocated. • Enter financial data into accounting systems with precision and attention to detail. • Prepare journal entries, adjusting entries, and manage the general ledger. • Handle accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice management and payment tracking. • Oversee payroll functions to ensure timely and accurate processing. • Reconcile bank and credit card statements to maintain accurate financial records. • Assist with the preparation of financial statements, including income statements and balance sheets. • Support month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely reporting. • Contribute to audits and tax-related tasks, including corporate and sales tax preparation. Requirements • Proven experience in accounting, preferably within the non-profit sector. • Strong proficiency in general ledger management, journal entries, and financial reconciliations. • Knowledge of corporate and sales tax regulations and filing processes. • Skilled in using financial software and tools, including Microsoft Excel with advanced formulas. • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. • Familiarity with budget allocations and non-profit accounting practices.
