Staff Accountant
Description The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing and maintaining financial reports to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax responsibilities, and other key financial activities. This role supports the overall financial health and compliance of the organization and collaborates across departments to ensure the accuracy of all financial data. Key Responsibilities: + Perform general accounting duties and support other functions within the accounting department. + Prepare and analyze periodic financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and profit & loss statements. + Oversee and maintain the general ledger to ensure transactions are recorded accurately. + Process and code invoices, create new accounts, reconcile accounts, and manage monthly book closings. + Reconcile bank accounts, verify deposits, and respond to inquiries from financial institutions. + Coordinate accounts receivable processes, including reconciling customer accounts and managing collections to ensure timely payments. + Audit and approve payments associated with accounts payable, verifying expenses are allocated to the correct accounts. + Assist external auditors during the annual audit by providing requested documentation and account information. + File all required tax forms with federal, state, and local agencies to maintain compliance. + Collaborate with software vendors and provide recommendations to enhance the organization’s accounting software systems. + Support periodic reviews of software and procedures to identify improvement opportunities. + Perform additional tasks or projects as assigned to support the department or organization. Skills and Abilities: + Comprehensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting principles. + Ability to follow and adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). + Proficiency in using accounting software platforms, with Microsoft Dynamics experience as a plus. + Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail. + Effective written and verbal communication skills to convey complex financial data clearly. + Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite tools, particularly Excel, and similar software packages. Education and Experience Requirements: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. + A minimum of three years of accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
