Staff Accountant
Description We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Missoula, Montana. This role involves managing various accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue recognition, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of corporate tax and accounting principles and will be dedicated to maintaining accuracy and compliance in all financial processes. Responsibilities: • Oversee the entry and processing of payment requests in Dynamics 365 Business Central, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. • Serve as a backup for accounts payable tasks, including extracting approved items, preparing files for bank transmission, and reviewing open items. • Manage accounts receivable processes, including recording funds received and new pledges. • Review agreements for revenue recognition, ensuring compliance with conditions or restrictions. • Record month-end entries for administrative fees on restricted funds and prepare quarterly fund balance roll-forward reports. • Coordinate with a third-party vendor to monitor and process annual charitable registrations across all required states. • Assist in creating monthly and quarterly financial reports for internal and external stakeholders. • Support month-end close processes by preparing journal entries and adjustments, ensuring accurate financial statements. • Provide timely and accurate responses to auditor requests during audits. • Participate in cross-training initiatives to support payroll, contributions accounting, and other finance-related tasks. Requirements • Proficiency in corporate tax, including corporate tax returns and sales tax. • Experience with general ledger management and journal entry preparation. • Strong knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes. • Familiarity with revenue recognition principles and restricted fund accounting. • Experience with accounting software, preferably Dynamics 365 Business Central. • Ability to produce accurate and timely financial statements and reports. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Strong communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external vendors.
