Staff Accountant
Description We are looking for a motivated and detail-driven Staff Accountant to join our finance team in Byron Center, Michigan. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of a dynamic brokerage specializing in services for high-net-worth clients. Responsibilities: • Record daily financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance. • Conduct thorough reconciliations of bank accounts, broker accounts, and payables to maintain up-to-date financial records. • Assist in closing monthly and year-end financial periods by preparing necessary documentation and reports. • Support the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports. • Maintain compliance with accounting standards and company policies by ensuring accurate record-keeping. • Provide documentation and assistance during audits to support regulatory and procedural requirements. • Analyze financial data to generate insightful reports for management and stakeholders. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect and integrate financial information into reports. • Handle miscellaneous accounting tasks and respond to ad-hoc requests as needed. Requirements • Some prior experience in accounting or finance, including internships or entry-level roles. • Foundational knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting processes. • Familiarity with accounting software, with preference given to candidates experienced with Xero. • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and basic data analysis. • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all financial tasks. • Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize responsibilities effectively. • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. • Clear and effective communication skills to interact with colleagues and stakeholders.
