Staff Accountant
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in White Plains, New York. This role is integral to ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining the efficiency of our accounting operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to improving processes while collaborating with various teams. Applicants can apply by sending your resume to Joe Ciavardini via LinkedIn or email me at joe.ciavardini@roberthalf Responsibilities: • Oversee daily accounting tasks and contribute to the monthly closing process to ensure timely and accurate reporting. • Prepare journal entries for designated areas and ensure compliance with accounting standards. • Reconcile balance sheets, review journal entries, and perform in-depth financial statement analysis. • Identify opportunities to streamline the monthly closing process by leveraging technology and refining procedures. • Assist in the creation and distribution of management reports and statistical analyses on a regular basis. • Conduct thorough reviews and analyses of profit and loss statements to uncover trends and variances. • Partner with external auditors to support the annual audit process and ensure compliance. • Enhance internal control practices and strengthen the organization's control environment. • Collaborate with corporate and operational teams to provide insights and variance explanations. • Take on additional duties as assigned to support the broader accounting function. Requirements • Proficiency in preparing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accounts. • Strong understanding of month-end closing processes and associated tasks. • Experience in performing bank reconciliations and ensuring accuracy in financial records. • Ability to generate and interpret management reports for informed decision-making. • Familiarity with audit preparation and collaboration with external auditors. • Analytical skills to conduct detailed financial reviews and variance analyses. • Knowledge of internal control processes and their application in accounting. • Effective communication and teamwork skills for partnering across departments.
