Description We are looking for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Hartford, Connecticut. In this role, you will play a key part in managing financial records, preparing tax filings, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professionals with a strong background in corporate accounting.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and file corporate tax returns and ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations.
• Manage sales tax reporting and reconciliation processes.
• Record and review journal entries to maintain accurate financial records.
• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring all financial data is properly documented.
• Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Collaborate with other departments to address accounting-related inquiries and provide insights.
• Review and analyze financial statements to identify discrepancies or opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies and procedures.
• Support audits by preparing required documentation and responding to inquiries. Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in corporate accounting or a related field.
• Proficiency in preparing corporate tax returns and managing sales tax processes.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger reconciliation and journal entry preparation.
• Familiarity with accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively.
• Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
