Description We are looking for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team in Washington, District of Columbia. This long-term contract position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has expertise in accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the accuracy of financial records and supporting the preparation of essential financial reports. Responsibilities: • Perform detailed reconciliations for accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) to maintain accurate financial data. • Process invoices, payments, and receipts in compliance with company policies and procedures. • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or variances found in financial records. • Prepare journal entries and reports to support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient financial operations and adherence to compliance standards. • Assist in the preparation of corporate and sales tax filings to meet regulatory requirements. • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by ensuring timely and accurate entries. • Utilize advanced Excel functions to analyze data and generate financial reports. • Provide recommendations for improving accounting processes and systems. • Ensure adherence to corporate tax return requirements and deadlines. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. • Proven experience with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) workflows and reconciliations. • Proficiency in accounting software and systems. • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling and data analysis. • Strong understanding of corporate and sales tax regulations. • Experience in preparing corporate tax returns and journal entries. • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
