Staff Accountant
Description We are looking for a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our client's team in Arden Hills, Minnesota, on a long-term contract basis. This role demands a detail-oriented individual who excels in technical accounting and has a strong commitment to process improvement. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in managing accounting and reporting responsibilities, contributing to month-end close activities, and supporting audits and reconciliation processes. Responsibilities: • Manage accounting and reporting duties for assigned business units, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established standards. • Prepare and post journal entries as part of the month-end close process. • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and create reports for management review. • Assist with quarterly and year-end audits by preparing required audit schedules and documentation. • Conduct Sarbanes-Oxley testing to ensure adherence to internal controls. • Support the annual patronage calculation process, ensuring data accuracy and timely completion. • Lead special projects and handle various ad hoc responsibilities as assigned. • Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and reporting. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes and enhance documentation. • Apply accounting principles to address areas such as current assets, liabilities, estimates, accruals, and equity method investments. *Please note that all candidates are required to provide 2 recent supervisor or manager references in order to be considered for employment. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required. • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience with a focus on detail and precision. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with advanced skills in data manipulation and analysis. • Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and practices. • Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, Hyperion, or Business Objects is preferred. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all tasks. • Prior public accounting experience is a plus.
