Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Washington, District of Columbia. This Contract-to-continuous position offers the opportunity to contribute to essential financial operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in accounting processes. The ideal candidate will be skilled in managing payables, maintaining ledgers, and performing reconciliations to support organizational goals. Responsibilities: • Process and review invoices for accuracy and completeness before payment. • Maintain and organize spreadsheets to track financial data and ensure proper documentation. • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including timely processing and recording. • Perform detailed bank reconciliations to ensure financial records align with bank statements. • Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger in accordance with accounting standards. • Assist with month-end close procedures, ensuring all financial data is accurately recorded and reconciled. • Utilize QuickBooks to manage and track financial transactions effectively. • Support the operations team by providing accurate financial reports and insights. Requirements • Proven experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable processes. • Strong knowledge of bank reconciliations and general ledger management. • Proficiency in preparing journal entries and conducting month-end close activities. • Hands-on experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software. • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards. • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills to handle detailed financial data. • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with teams.
