Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Galveston, Texas. This position offers a Contract-to-Permanent opportunity within the dynamic financial services industry. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining fiscal records, contributing to the overall efficiency of the accounting department. Responsibilities: • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely and accurate transactions. • Perform bank reconciliations to verify account balances and resolve discrepancies. • Prepare and post journal entries to maintain the integrity of the general ledger. • Assist with month-end close procedures, ensuring all financial data is properly recorded and reconciled. • Maintain and update general ledger accounts, ensuring compliance with accounting standards. • Provide support to the Controller by handling various accounting tasks as needed. • Review and analyze financial statements for accuracy and consistency. • Monitor and maintain fiscal records, ensuring proper documentation and organization. • Collaborate with team members to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, preferably within the financial services sector. • Proficiency in accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes. • Strong knowledge of general ledger management and journal entries. • Experience with bank reconciliations and month-end close procedures. • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
