Staff Accountant
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join our Finance team in Phoenix, Arizona. This long-term contract position plays a vital role in maintaining the organization's financial integrity, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting accurate reporting. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and contribute to various financial processes and projects. Responsibilities: • Perform monthly financial close tasks, including preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts. • Maintain accurate schedules for accounts such as fixed assets, prepaids, deferred revenue, and other key financial categories. • Ensure transactions are appropriately classified by account and department to uphold financial accuracy. • Prepare audit schedules and collaborate with external auditors during annual audit processes. • Support the preparation of Form 990 and other regulatory filings to ensure compliance with relevant standards. • Adhere to nonprofit accounting guidelines and organizational financial policies. • Assist in finance-related special projects and initiatives as directed by leadership. • Monitor and manage general ledger activities, including account reconciliations and adjustments. • Contribute to accurate and timely month-end close processes to support organizational reporting needs. Requirements • Proficiency in accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, or SAP. • Strong knowledge of accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and bank reconciliations. • Experience with general ledger management and journal entry preparation. • Solid understanding of month-end close processes and financial reporting. • Familiarity with nonprofit accounting standards and compliance requirements. • Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail. • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external auditors. • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
