Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Baltimore, Maryland. In this Contract-to-permanent role, you will play a pivotal part in managing financial processes, analyzing data, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Responsibilities: • Conduct comprehensive financial analysis and prepare accurate financial statements, trial balances, and reports for assigned programs and accounts. • Maintain general ledger accounts, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and monitoring accounts receivable, payable, and fixed asset accounts. • Review and recommend improvements to accounting workflows and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy. • Collaborate with managers, internal teams, and external agencies to address complex financial matters and share critical information. • Train new users on financial systems, ensuring proper usage for data preparation, reconciliation, and analysis. • Monitor internal financial controls to safeguard assets and recommend improvements to security and system procedures. • Support the development and implementation of financial information systems, contributing to system enhancements and updates. • Prepare fund balance projections, year-end budget closing entries, and monitor revenue and account balances. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. • At least four (4) years of experience in general ledger accounting or auditing. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, with a willingness to learn additional financial software. • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present financial data effectively. • Experience in preparing financial statements, trial balances, and compliance reports. • Knowledge of budgeting and financial forecasting processes. • Excellent communication and organizational skills for coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
