Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis. This role is based in Saint Louis, Missouri, and offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to financial operations within the education sector. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth execution of accounting processes.
Responsibilities:
• Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes to ensure timely and accurate transactions.
• Perform bank reconciliations to verify account balances and identify discrepancies.
• Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and compliant with accounting standards.
• Prepare and post journal entries to support month-end and year-end close processes.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements for internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and accounting regulations during all financial operations.
• Collaborate with other departments to resolve discrepancies and improve financial workflows.
• Support audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
• Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends or areas for improvement. Requirements • Proven experience in managing accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR).
• Strong understanding of bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance.
• Proficiency in preparing and posting journal entries.
• Familiarity with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple accounting tasks efficiently.
• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
• Solid knowledge of accounting principles and relevant regulations.
• Effective communication skills for collaboration across teams.
