SSP Operator II
**Description** **General Summary** Responsible for operating and monitoring steam sterilization equipment (autoclaves) to thoroughly clean, decontaminate, assemble, package, and sterilize medical instruments and supplies, ensuring their safe and hygienic use in a healthcare setting, while strictly adhering to established infection control protocols and quality standards during **third shift** . **Essential Duties and Responsibilities** + Observing and interpreting readings on gauges, meters and charts which register various aspects of the system's operation + Recording in logs various aspects of the system's operation + Keeping the machinery and equipment of the system in good operating order + Maintaining the system or systems. + Performs scheduled maintenance on a wide variety of equipment. + Performs routine investigation rounds wearing proper PPE and RPE, such as a PAPR. + Required to work weekends and holidays. + Other duties may be assigned. **Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements** + Two (2)-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. + Must be able to pass/clear an extensive Government required Background Investigation for clearance to the facility. + Site specific system training to be provided. **Working Conditions** + Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions. + Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable.
