Team Submarine’s Submarine Program Offices are responsible for:

The acquisition of the COLUMBIA Class SSBN and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E) and Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E) of the COLUMBIA Class. The program is a major defense acquisition program and is of significant political importance with Congress and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).

 

The acquisition of New Construction Submarines and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E), Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E), and Fleet introduction of the U.S. Navy’s newest class of nuclear attack submarines (SSN(X)). The program is a major defense acquisition program with a total life cycle cost of approximately $336B. Additionally, successful improvement of the Class' capabilities is of significant political importance with Congress and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).

 

The NAVSEA 05Z5 Directorate is responsible for the design and development of the COLUMBIA class Integrated Power System that provides power distribution and propulsion for the future ballistic missile submarine.  They work with directly with the shipbuilder for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating all resources required for the design, construction, and Test and Evaluation (T&E) of the future submarine’s power system. They are also responsible for all of the Turbine Generators for generating electricity for all submarine and CVNs.  The future Ballistic Missile Submarine is the nation’s top defense priority as the only survivable leg of the nuclear triad.

 

PMS 351 Program office is responsible to PEO Submarines for the design and development of SSN(X), the Navy’s newest class of nuclear attack submarine.  They work directly with the shipbuilder to achieve a design that meets all the required capabilities for this new platform.  The SSN(X) program is critical to the future of our National Defense.

Serco supports the US Navy as a prime for their Team Submarine contract supporting the acquisition of submarines. The Team Submarine concept unifies once diverse submarine-related activities into a single submarine-centric organization with the goal of eliminating traditional stovepipe structures and processes that created impediments and inefficiencies in the submarine research, development, acquisition, and maintenance communities. Team Submarine provides improved communication among the various offices that contribute to the overall success of the United States Submarine Force.

 

Serco-NA is seeking a motivated and experienced engineer to provide engineering and programmatic support to PMS 351, one of our US Navy customers in the Washington, DC area. This is a seated position on the Washington Navy Yard.

 

In this role you will:

Provide engineering and systems engineering support to the program officeRecommend course of action(s) for unexpected technical and programmatic issues related to RDT&EGenerate Acquisition documentation for Milestone ReviewsPerform technical planning, cost, schedule, risk, supportability and effectiveness analysis for total systems; analyses performed at concept, design, test, evaluation and operational phasesReview and develop analytical and technical input needed in order to evaluate documentation and development of briefs to ensure accurate, timely and essential information is proved to decision makersPrepare Unclassified and Classified briefs for audiences up to and including the Flag levelAssist the Ship Design Manager and Test and Evaluation Manager as requiredAttend meetings and specified Program Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)Set high personal standards for performance and conductDemonstrate ability to be a team player; work well with others; contribute positively to work/team environment while continually seek ways to enhance contribution to the teamRely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goalsPerform a variety of tasks with technical rigor and little or no supervision Qualifications

In this role role you should have:

Required: A Secret clearanceRequired: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or similar technical degree (Physics, Chem, etc.) Master's degree is preferred.Required: 10 years of work experience with Navy Acquisition programsRequired: Experience with acquisition documentation (i.e. AoA, Gate Reviews, Milestone Reviews)Required: MS Microsoft skills are essential, especially Excel and PowerPointRequired: You must have the ability to work both in a team environment and independently, and often under short, multiple deadlinesWork experience in the Navy and specifically within Team Submarine or on-board submarines is a plus10% travel might be required

In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary range for this role is $119,574.56 to $199,290.94; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
