Background/IRC Summary:
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a private, non-political, non-profit, and non-religious organization. For over 90 years, we have been providing humanitarian assistance to communities affected by conflict and natural disasters in more than 40 countries. Since 2008, the IRC has been active in Myanmar, delivering humanitarian assistance in areas such as health, protection, water, and sanitation, specifically targeting families impacted by conflict and natural disasters.
Job Overview/Summary:
The SRH Nurse will be responsible for the service provision of sexual and reproductive health services delivered in WPE/SRH integrated centers and clinic sites. Under the supervision of SRH Technical Manager, the SRH Nurse will be the focal of SRH team in Sittwe Township. The SRH Nurse needs to build the capacity of SRH Community Volunteers (Community Mobilizers) and participate in project monitoring and evaluation. The SRH Nurse is under direct supervision and management of SRH Technical Manager but works together with the medical doctors and program management and WPE team members to deliver SRH services in IDP camps and/ or isolated villages in Sittwe Township.
Major Responsibilities:
Implementation of SRH care in targeted camps and villages
Provide quality health education/awareness raising related with SRH in line with IRC, WHO and standard protocols.Family Planning Counseling including childhood/parental hood preparation and counseling.General Reproductive Health Counseling and assisted in SRH Procedure Family Planning MethodsActing as focal person for communication and coordination between mobile clinic and WPE for provision of Gender Based Violence (GBV) related services.Ensure adherence to a survivor centered approach when providing GBV services. Set up “Client Friendly GBV and SRH services at the SRH clinics and safe spaces. Assist Medical Doctor/SRH Technical Manager in giving appropriate medical care to the patients according to standard protocols. Educate a patient about the clinical condition that he/she suffered and explain the possible side effects of medications Administer and dispense drugs as prescribed by the Medical Doctor and ensure the patient is clear on how to take the medication (correct dosage/frequency and duration)Respect and follow 5 clinic opening hours at both mobile/Integrated WPE centers and at least 6 working hours a day. Ensure the clinic environment is clean and patient friendlyStrictly follow universal precaution, infection control principles and sterilization of surgical instruments.Implement the proper triage of patients presenting to clinics.Record keeping and medical supplies management
Record the drugs dispensed to every patient in daily consumption register/record bookComplete and keep proper medical records and registersManage stock of drugs and clinic commoditiesEnsure not to stock out of drugs at the clinic by the collaboration with medical doctors and medical supply chain officerAssist Medical Doctor/SRH Technical Manager (Team Leader) to manage clinic database including data compilation, entry and reporting.Capacity building of the Community Volunteers
Coordinate with SRH Technical Manager, Medical doctor, Community Health Officer to provide competency-based capacity building training for community mobilizers/Peer Educators.Support on the job training and coaching to community mobilizers/Peer Educators by Community health Team.Assist Medical Doctor/SRH Technical Manager in supervising translators and community mobilizers/Peer Educators.Monitoring and Evaluation
Conduct data entry at SRH clinic level: Support Medical Doctors/Clinic Manager in entering patient consultation data into tablets and in hard copy to patient record books.In collaboration with Medical Doctors/Clinic Manager, collate information on relevant morbidities into daily State health Department reports. Prepare and report weekly and monthly EWARS reports and MUAC screening report as neededEnsure adherence to GBV information sharing protocol when sharing any GBV related data.Other
Coordinate with program support teams to implement project activities in timeAssist medical doctor/clinic manager to provide procurement documents in advance as neededIn collaboration with other members of the health project team, participate in the design and implementation of formative assessments and baseline studies in order to identify health priorities and practices among the IDP and community.Assist Medical Doctor/ Clinic Manager for establishing diseases surveillance system and outbreak response as neededRemain flexible to perform other duties as required or requested.Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Licensed Nurse with Bachelor of Nursing or diploma of nursing. Must have valid Nurse Registration document.Work Experience:
At least 1 years’ experience of Sexual and Reproductive health (SRH) care/GBV settings after graduation.Experience of using Microsoft Office package.Knowledge of SRH (HE and Counseling) including working with adolescent girlsFavorable to people with experience on medical response to disaster area, surveillance and control of communicable diseases in disaster area.Sensitivity to the needs and priorities of conflicted-affected populations.Has knowledge of or understanding GBV guiding principlesExperience of using Microsoft Office package.Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
Strong leadership skills and team management skills.Adaptable, flexible and mature in judgment. Good assessment, analytical, planning and reporting skills.Understanding medical ethics and patient education.Have ability and motivation to travel by boat and work long continuous days in remote villages in Rakhine costal region.Skilled in community mobilization, facilitation and health promotion.Language Skills:
