Sr. UX Engineer

As a Senior UX Engineer at Whitepages, you bring deep technical expertise together with a strong passion for user-centric design. You understand how front-end code, design systems, accessibility, and performance optimizations directly influence user experience, engagement, and conversion across a high-visibility B2C platform. You are naturally curious about how users interact with digital products—from visual layout and interaction patterns to performance and usability—and you use that curiosity to deliver elegant, responsive, and intuitive user experiences.

You’ll work closely with Product, Marketing, and Design teams to bridge the gap between high-fidelity design and world-class implementation. You build reusable components, uphold design systems, and set standards for scalable, accessible, and performant web experiences.Mentor and lead engineers on front-end and UX best practices, performance optimization, and maintainable architecture.Implement and extend our design system using modern JavaScript frameworks (React/Next.js preferred) and CSS methodologies (BEM, Tailwind, etc.).Collaborate closely with Designers to ensure excellent UI/UX for our customers.Improve accessibility across all digital experiences by following WCAG guidelines and implementing ARIA roles.Optimize for Core Web Vitals, first paint/load, and responsive performance across devices.Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and front-end strategy across teams.Partner with Marketing, SEO, and Product teams to implement front-end solutions that improve discoverability, engagement, and conversion.Translate complex user and business needs into robust, scalable front-end solutions.Build and maintain high-traffic components with test coverage, using tools like Jest, Cypress, or Playwright.Lead efforts to modernize and future-proof our front-end architecture (e.g., server-side rendering, component-driven development).Contribute to internal tooling, build systems, and CI/CD pipelines as they impact your team and our business. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, HCI, or equivalent experience.8+ years of experience building complex, high-traffic web applications focused on UX and front-end excellence.Fluency in modern JavaScript (ES6+), CSS3, HTML5, and a deep understanding of front-end frameworks (React, Vue, or Angular).Strong background in accessibility, responsive design, and browser compatibility.Experience with A/B testing tools, SEO best practices, and analytics integration.Familiarity with Figma or similar design tools and working in design-dev hand off environments.Solid understanding of performance bottlenecks and how to address them (networking, rendering, etc.).Experience with SSR frameworks (Next.js), analytics instrumentation, knowledge of back-end systems (Java, Go, Python).Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

We are open to a fully remote working relationship outside of Washington, with quarterly trips to the office, if you reside in one of the following states: Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Maryland, or Wisconsin.


Salary consists of base pay and participation in a quarterly and annual bonus based on the performance of the company. The range for this role is $175k - $275k (includes both base and bonus opportunity), depending on geographical location and experience.
