Our location in **Sylmar, CA** currently has an opportunity for a **Senior Technician, Reliability**
**THIS IS AN ONSITE DAILY REQUIRED POSITION.**
**The Opportunity**
This position works out of our Sylmar, CA location in the CRM Division. As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias or irregular heartbeats.
**_MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE_**
The Sr. Technician, Reliability will working under minimal supervision, perform relatively complex tests/analyses on products returned from the field. Performs tests on new components according to written protocols such as qualification test plans, maintains accurate written and electronic records, applies existing work methods to different situations and solves problems ranging from recurring/routine to complex situations. Work requires the application of theoretical principals, evaluation, ingenuity, and creative/analytical techniques to identify route cause failure mechanisms. May serve as lead and assign work to less experienced personnel; serves as a mentor when assisting less experienced lab staff in solving more complex problems.
**_MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES_**
+ Performs additional more complex analytical tests (electrical and mechanical) required for trouble shooting to component level to determine failure mechanism on product returned from the field for analysis.
+ Assists management in the development of mathematical models to identify units, batches or processes posing excessive failure risks and in the support of Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA) processes.
+ Performs necessary tests on components and/or sub-assemblies in support of qualification engineering group.
+ Records analyses results using photographic and color printing equipment, word-processing and/or spreadsheet PC software in compliance with engineering and regulatory requirements.
+ Supports reliability management to ensure that overall objectives, including risk management initiatives, are met in compliance with divisional operating procedures.
+ Prepares samples by mounting, cross-sectioning, polishing and otherwise configuring for microscopic, photographic and/or scanning electron microscope (SEM) or energy-dispersive x-ray micro analysis (EDX) evaluation.
+ May set-up special test equipment, define changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures and/or new testing equipment in support of continuous improvement initiatives.
+ Notifies supervision of the need to replenish supplies/materials and to repair any equipment.
+ Performs other related duties as directed or assigned such as training of less experienced and/or new lab technicians
**_Minimum Requirements_**
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Minimum High School Diploma or GED
+ 5 or more years of work experience as a technician.
+ 2 or more years of electrical and mechanical experience.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Associates Degree, technical training or additional technical certification
+ Work experience in an environment that complies with the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) regulations.
+ Work experience within the Medical device industry.
