**Job Description**
Summary
The Senior Systems Engineer will take ownership and/or support technical engineering projects related to water and waste systems and components. Using sound engineering principles, this engineer will interface with cross functional groups (internal and external) to ensure robust, airworthy systems are configured which meet budget, schedule and internal requirements and goals. This position will be responsible for participating in and leading improvement activities at a company level.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Takes responsibility (technical and project management) of medium/complex systems and components.
• Independently owns or leads a team for all levels of projects (technical and project management)
• Understands how various groups (engineering, industrialization, operations, program management, sales) work together and able to navigate through the company.
• Able to review, check and approve work done by peers and other engineers.
• Provides mentorship and training to other system engineers
• Subject matter expert for the assigned water or waste system or components.
• Subject matter expert for system control, software and communication.
• Interface with integration team to ensure that system components such as waste/water transportation elements, holding tanks, waste collection equipment, vacuum generators, and air compressors/pumps are physically fit in to given aircraft environment without interference.
• Acts as primary engineering focal for his/her system to interface with internal customers (Program Management) and external customers (OEMs, Airlines and Regulatory authorities)
• Leads and manage the system development project status and present to internal & external customers with focus on schedule, cost, weight and risks management
• Leads research and/or testing for troubleshooting and presents design changes for consideration.
• Leads system validation tests & analysis as needed to ensure that requirements are valid and meets the customer/system intent
• Leads System Design Verification Test Procedures (SDVTP) and perform system integration/performance testing • Leads and manage new/existing suppliers to develop/upgrade equipment.
• Leads compliance of redesign solutions, performance, safety and reliability to ensure a robust system design.
• Ensure that system development adheres with internal engineering phase gate review process and delivers all the necessary data to support the reviews
• Leads failure Root Cause Analysis (RCA) that leads to design solutions or corrective actions. Expert in failure mode analysis and leads the team to perform DFMEA, FTA and safety analysis
• Leads review and process engineering changes in the development of water and waste systems and their components.
• Leads the team to promote ZWWS policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned

• Modeling Skills – Excellent ability to analyze the modeling data and take decisions that would help designing optimized systems from performance, cost and weight aspects. Working knowledge or M
• Knowledge and skills in aerospace regulations such as RTCA/DO-160, RTCA/DO-178 and RTCA/DO-254 guidelines
• Knowledge in major aerospace OEM electronics design guidelines (Airbus ABDs, Boeing D6 etc.,)
Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) from a recognized ABET accredited institution or equivalent
• Desired minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in the design and evaluation of aircraft systems and/or components
Physical Demands – While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to move around the office.
Work Environment – The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
Travel – Periodical travel is minimal and may be 3 to 5 days per quarter at most.
