General Summary:
The Communications Senior Specialist serves as a key member of the Internal Communications Team at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago This person will be responsible for developing specific communications plans for organization-wide initiatives and will work closely with the broader communications team to produce communication pieces, maintain communication channels, and support data and analytic reporting for the team. The position requires significant familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint, and general familiarity with the entire Microsoft Suite. The role actively supports the Internal Communications team and its efforts to achieve Lurie Children’s vision and annual goals.
Essential Job Functions:
In coordination with the Internal Communications leadership team maintains a communications plan, calendar, and processes, in alignment with the overarching communications strategy.Lead the development, implementation, and measurement of internal communications content that increases awareness, drives engagement, and supports Lurie Children's mission. (e.g., talking points, presentations, e-mails, newsletters, videos, leadership communications, town hall meetings, metric reports/dashboards, etc.)Provide creative direction for the execution of communications materials, as needed.Develop, manage, and audit organization-wide intranet content.Analyze data from a wide variety of internal sources and creates presentations to summarize data in a variety of forms (graphs, presentations, executive summary documents etc.).Provide communication support for the executive leadership team, as appropriate.Oversee project management for all Internal Communications requests. Develop a deep understanding of our business and employee communications needs.Coordinate across the broader internal communications team to support consistent delivery of organization-wide initiatives.Stay up to date with market trends and communications best practices.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor's Degree in communications, journalism or equivalent. Advanced degree a plus.At least 7 years of experience in Communications, Employee/ Internal Communications.Exemplary editorial and writing skills, and the ability to write in unique voices and styles to reflect the nature of the audience and message.Demonstrated ability to understand, narrate, and contextualize complex information in a compelling, concise and clear manner for a range of purposes and audiences.Strong interpersonal skills and experience driving collaborators toward consensus and results, with a proven record of working effectively and forming relationships at various levels throughout an organization.Ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects with different deadlines and shifting priorities.Has a keen attention to detail.Creative thinker who can work within established design standards and guidelines.Demonstrated experience in the successful development and implementation of communications plans.Advanced knowledge and working experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and content management systems such as SharePoint and Teams.Exhibits high proficiency with technology and an openness to ongoing learning, particularly in areas such as artificial intelligence.Ability to work with minimal supervision and to manage deadline-based project work.A commitment to equity and inclusion, and openness to new ideas and perspectives.Comfort interacting with senior executives across the organization and experience working with C-suite leaders.Demonstrable experience in evaluating communications data analytics and tools, as well as benchmarking and identifying best practices.Digital, social media and/or external communications experience a plus.

$70,720.00-$115,627.20 SalaryAt Lurie Children’s, we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity, reflecting individual contributions, experience, and expertise. The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position. Ranges are regularly reviewed to stay aligned with market conditions.
