Sr. Software Engineer, Assurant, GCC-India

The Sr. Software Engineer is a position requiring working with our international clients, business partners, architects, engineers, management and other IT groups to understand, design and engineer technical solutions for the desired capabilities.

Collaboration, communication, and problem solving are key skills required.  The Sr. Software Engineer is responsible for understanding and contributing to detailed technical design for features of a given project for the application. The Sr. Software Engineer may be required to technically lead some aspects of the project

This position will be at Hyderabad at our India location.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

Participates and contributes to design and build phases of the projectCommunicates frequently with lead engineers and management on project status, issues or newsFollows the methodology standards and development process standards set by the ArchitectsLearn new technologies for the project as neededParticipate in design reviewsContributes to software reviews for consistency with best practices, standards and architecture guideline including code reviewParticipates in finding solutions to problems, document procedures, mentors’ junior staff on problem resolution approachCollaborates and work with the Lead Engineer and Architects to design the appropriate solution for the project using the Architect guidelines.Participates on performing technical evaluations of vendor packagesCollaborates with Application & Database Architecture and Lead in the selection and use of new, unexplored technology and design of projectsEnsures final build adheres to approved design and meeting user requirements and expectationsAnalyzes conditions and strategies that effectively minimize implementation risk and/or improve system reliability and performanceParticipates in the integrations of components and systemsParticipates on team scrum meetings with peers, and usersDemonstrates potential for leadership, including sharing technical guidance, training and mentoring others in areas of acquired expertiseWorks and meets with the team very frequently to discuss issues, progress, questions, open items, etc.Participates on interviews of new candidates for the projectsOther projects and assignments may result and be assigned to accommodate the changing needs of the department and the company.

What are the requirements needed for this position?

Completion of BS degree in MIS, CS, Technical Certification, etc. and/or 5 - 10 years of experience. MS preferredApplication-specific certifications generally considered a plus in the applications areas of focused for the technical lead.  If certifications are not in place initially it is expected the lead will pursue and obtain these.Technical and non-technical Knowledge and SkillsExcellent written communication skillsString knowledge on Agile and Scrum practicesBroad knowledge of web applications and infrastructureStrong knowledge of distributed systemsExperience with Micro services design and developmentExperience with cloud application design patternsExperience in application architecture, design, and development a plusExperience in influencing others, managing conflict and interacting well with individuals throughout the organizational hierarchy

What is the Preferred Experience, Skills, and Knowledge needed for this position?
