Sr. Software Engineer, Plant Modeling and Tools

The Role:

Work with cross-function team to identify plant model requirements for MIL/SIL/PIL/HIL/System Integration testing  Work with other modelling engineers to create subsystem models for different domains and integrate it to the vehicle model  Support improvement activities for the current vehicle model via modeling of systems such as steering, toe and camber, chassis mechanics to scale up simulation activities.  Develop physics and electronic actuators models for steering system, brake systems and electronic park brakes   Assist in development of electrical models for high voltage systems such as motors, invertors and OBC  Support development of real-time Simulation Models using MATLAB/Simulink or similar model-based toolkit  Design & Develop tools using M scripts/Python scripts to automate integration of closed-loop library models  Work with requirement owners to establish validation metrics for plant models  Validate component, sub-system or full system model against actual vehicle data from field  Document and track modeling issues as appropriate. Participate in triaging of model issues with various teams to drive towards root cause identification and resolution  Implement performance improvements as well as improve model fidelity/functionality  Help with scalability of model for new and upcoming products  Participate in the design of a world-class engineering effort to bring electric vehicles to a new level of refinement

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical or automotive engineering  5+ years of experience developing plant models for simulation/software development or test  Experience in real-time controls plant modeling   Working knowledge in chassis systems, vehicle dynamics and/or power electronics systems  Knowledge with automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, UDS, and related tools to measure and command signals  Experience with revision control tools, such as git  Willingness to learn new tools and modeling methods
