We are seeking a talented individual to join our Career team at Mercer. This role will be based in Nashville, TN. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in our Nashville office.
In our Career consulting business (“Career”), we provide expertise in a variety of areas that improve the business performance through the workforce. We help clients develop optimal compensation plans, measure and drive employee engagement, optimize the HR Function and technology, design effective career architectures, assess pay equity and transparency and manage significant organizational change and more.
We will count on you to:
Develop Business – Generate revenue through development of new client relationships and build and maintain strong client relationships; partner with local consultants, sales professionals, and client managers to identify target organizations in the mid-to-large market ; independently build relationships and identify prospects; lead discussions with prospects and clients on Mercer’s value proposition; create solutions and prepare proposals and present to a wide range of prospects and stakeholders; work to bring opportunities to successful close by negotiating final engagement terms; execute contracts.
Demonstrate Expertise – Represent capabilities for Mercer in the Nashville and broader Tennessee market, in the area of Compensation and broader Rewards advisory to include any or all of the following: Executive Compensation, Workforce Compensation, Job Architecture and Skills Management, Total Rewards Strategy
Deliver Client Work– Lead and/or participate in the delivery of Career engagements, acting as overall project manager, peer reviewer, and day-to-day client contact. Manage project economics – delivering on time and within budget, and manage delivery teams to ensure quality and value of all project deliverables for engagements
Contribute to Solution Area – Contribute to thought leadership, sales pipeline, methodology development, brand development in the market, and team working environment; be viewed as a leader and mentor to junior staff; also, contribute to Mercer’s overall value proposition by building positive working relationships across the firm
Build Local Relationships – Manage stakeholders effectively by earning trust and developing long-term client relationships
What you need to have:
Bachelor’s degree, ideally in business, HR management, or finance/accounting
At least 8+ years of external compensation/rewards consulting experience working with large to mid-size organizations
Demonstrated experience consulting with public and private companies in a variety of industries on many of the following areas: compensation strategy development, competitive pay evaluation, career/job architectures, compensation structures, pay/performance links, incentive program design (annual and long-term), equity strategy, change in control planning, mergers and acquisitions, and/or other issues
Innovation mindset in approach to consulting work and a willingness to adapt to challenging work and problem solving
Ability to financially scope a project as well as manage project budgets and risks, and the ability to successfully write proposals for new business opportunities and to present proposed projects to executive-level management
